University of British Columbia Workday Project

The University of British Columbia (UBC) has decided to migrate away from PeopleSoft and implement Workday in the areas of Student Administration, HR/Payroll and Finance and Supply Chain. Workday, which is cloud based, has been slowly eating away at SAP’s, PeopleSoft’s and Oracle’s customer base and have added data centres in multiple cities to support local government’s data requirements. Their strategy seems to be similar to when PeopleSoft first started out with their founders originally from PeopleSoft. Migrating to Workday will be a large undertaking and the success will lie in the functionality of the system. The HR/Payroll is a mature product but the Student Administration and Finance and Supply Chain functionality is still young. Experience in implementing ERP and meeting the expectations of both management and the business teams using the system on a daily basis will be key. CN has been engaged to help move specific departments and functionality away from PeopleSoft where Workday does not currently have the functionality for the area of maintenance managment. CN has also been engaged to help with the RFP for the new maintenance management system and integration to Workday.
